About SMM
SMM is an online social networking and matchmaking service that allows our members to set up personal profiles, search for singles, couples and teams who have requested to play one of many sports or activities on specific dates, in specific locations, at specific levels of ability, and/or make personal match requests to the community. SMM members can view each others' profiles, communicate with other members on the service, upload and view photos, communicate by Instant Messenger or via the chat room. SMM requests and displays some personal information to other members and visitors, which allows our users to identify each other and expand their network of competitors and friends. SMM members can change their profile information at any time and can control how other members and the service communicates with them. SMM is very sensitive to online privacy issues. What This Privacy Policy Covers
This policy covers how SMM treats personal information that SMM collects and receives. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable like your name, address, email address, or phone number, and that is not publicly available.
This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that SMM does not own or control, or to people that SMM does not employ or manage.
Children
When a child under age 18 attempts to register with SMM as a new member, we ask that he or she have a parent or guardian create an SMM account in his/her parents' or guardian's name. Then the child's anonymous info can be added to the adult's profile. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed to become an SMM member. Our system, however, allows SMM members to search for adult members who have children that are indicated in their parents' or guardian's profile, for the purpose of arranging supervised sport/activity matches between children.
SMM requires that all SMM members agree never to allow their children to play, meet or socialize with other adult members or their children unsupervised by the parents or a trusted adult.
Parents can review, edit, and delete information relating to their children's portion of their profile at any time.
The SMM system will only display, in the parent's or guardian's profile, a child's age, gender, sports/activities played and level of ability in each sport.
Members with children can ONLY contact another parent or guardian to try to set up a supervised match with their children, since no contact information for children is submitted to or displayed by SMM at any time.
Information Collection and Use
SMM collects personal information when submitted to SMM by you.
SMM automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including non-personally-identifiable data such as your IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, and browser type, from any visitor to the site. Generally, SMM uses this data for the following purposes: to run and operate the Web site, to track usage and improve the Web site services with certain features and products, to supply your requests for products and services, to contact you, to conduct research, to customize the advertising and content displayed, and to provide anonymous reporting for external clients. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes.
When you register for any SMM service, we ask for information such as, but not limited to, your name, marital status, email address, birth date, gender, zip code, occupation, industry, personal sports and activities played, and other personal interests in order to assist our members in finding and communicating with each other. For some products and services we may also ask for additional information about you. Once you register with SMM and log into our services, you are not anonymous to the SMM system.
SMM collects and shares information about your use of our service with some of our business affiliates, including information about your use of products and services that we offer.
Your profile information, including pictures and screen name are displayed to SMM members in order to facilitate member interaction on the SMM site, unless you choose not to display your member profile information. Member email addresses are used for such purposes as, but not necessarily limited to, sending notifications related to the service, offering new features, products and services, and sending member-to-member emails. With the exception of your digital requests to send your personal emails to another member via the SMM emailing system (your return email address is included in these emails), your email address is not shared or displayed to other members by SMM, and your actual name is never directly revealed to other members by the SMM Web site system. You may choose not to receive certain types of email by opting out via these email communications sent to you, by following the instructions provided within the email.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
SMM does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or nonaffiliated companies except to provide products or services you've requested, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances:
SMM believes it is necessary to share information in order to investigate or cooperate with an investigation, prevent, or take legal action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of SMM's terms of use, or as otherwise required by law;
SMM needs to respond to subpoenas, court orders, search warrants or other legal process, whether or not a response is required by applicable law, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims;
SMM needs to provide the information to trusted partners who work on behalf of or with SMM under confidentiality agreements. These companies may use your personal information to help SMM communicate with you about offers from SMM and our marketing partners. However, these companies do not have any independent right to share this information with others.
SMM will transfer information about you if SMM is acquired by, merged with or licensed to another company. In this event, SMM will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
SMM displays specific advertisements based on personal information, such as but not limited to the sports you play and your level of ability. Advertisers and ad serving companies may assume that people who interact with, view, or click on targeted ads meet the targeting criteria - for example, men ages 25-35 from a particular geographic area, who play a certain sport.
SMM advertisers include all kinds of service and product providers.
SMM does not provide any personal information to the advertiser when you click on and view one of their ads. However, by interacting with or viewing an ad you understand and accept the possibility that the advertiser will assume that you meet the targeting criteria used to display the ad.
SMM works with vendors, partners, advertisers, and other service providers in different industries and categories of business.
Cookies
SMM may set and access cookies (small bits of data) on your computer.
SMM may let other companies, that advertise on some of our pages or in the Player's Guide, set and access their cookies on your computer. Other companies' use of their cookies is subject to their own privacy policies, not this one. Advertisers or other companies do not have access to SMM's cookies.
SMM may use web beacons (an electronic file that allows a web site to count users who have visited a page or to access certain cookies) to access SMM cookies and in connection with SMM products and services offered.
Member Ability to Edit and Delete Profile Information and Preferences
You can edit your profile information and preference settings, at any time.
SMM reserves the right to send you certain communications relating to the SMM service, such as service announcements, related service and product sales information, administrative messages and the SMM Newsletter, that are considered part of your SMM membership, without offering you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving them.
You can delete your SMM membership at any time by visiting the Delete Member page on the SMM Web site. After your account is deleted, SMM will keep a record of your terminated account information in our archives for a period of time, even though your account is no longer active.
Confidentiality and Security
SMM limits access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs.
SMM has physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect personal information about you.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
SMM may update this policy. We will notify you about substantive changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your account or by placing a notice on our site.
